ANCHORAGE, AK — June 6, 2025, The Anchorage Police Department (APD) is proud to announce the launch of its 25-1 Police Academy class, welcoming 29 recruits—28 from APD and one from the Wasilla Police Department (WPD). This marks the department’s largest academy class since 2020.
“A full academy is a testament to the dedication and commitment of individuals eager to serve and protect our community. This milestone reflects the growing interest in law enforcement careers and signals a promising future,” said APD Chief Sean Case.
The 25-1 Basic Police Academy runs approximately 25 weeks. Upon graduation, recruits begin the next stage of their journey: the Field Training Officer (FTO) program, where they’ll gain hands-on experience before becoming solo officers.
