Sheldon Carver Arrested for Robbery with a Knife

At 6:12 PM on August 30, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to Carrs located at 1725 Abbott Road regarding a robbery.   Initial indications are that 27-year-old Sheldon B. Carver entered the grocery store, took items off the shelves, and then walked past all checkout stands without paying.  A Loss Prevention employee (LP) contacted Carver just outside the store and identified himself.  Carver attempted to flee; the LP went hands on.  Two more LPs arrived, and the three men escorted Carver back inside.  Once inside, Carver produced a knife and began swinging it around.  All three LPs sustained cuts on their hands.  While being in fear of sustaining serious injuries, the LPs took Carver to the ground and kept him there until APD arrived.

Responding officers placed Carver into handcuffs, walked him outside, and placed him inside a patrol car.  AFD medics responded to the scene, but all three LPs declined medical attention.  Carver was not wounded.

Sheldon Carver was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on three counts of Assault II, three counts of Assault III, and one count of Robbery I.
