APD Unveils Crime Facts Page Featuring Data and Safety Initiatives
ANCHORAGE, AK, 11/26/2025— The Anchorage Police Department (APD) announced the launch of a new online resource — The Facts About Crime — and What APD is Doing to Help Keep Anchorage Safe — now available at anchoragepolice.com/safe. This new resource page brings clarity on crime, enforcement and public safety efforts.
Anchorage residents interested in understanding crime trends, APD’s ongoing efforts, and public safety initiatives can now find all key information compiled in one easy-to-use, public-facing web page. The page presents:
A 10-year look at crime in Anchorage, showing that violent crime remains largely stable (comparable to 1990s levels) and property crime has steadily decreased, consistent with national trends.
An overview of APD’s efforts to counter retail theft through the newly launched Retail Theft Detail — including enforcement results since late September 2025 (60+ individuals charged, more than $70,000 in recovered merchandise), coordination with retail partners, real-time video feed use, and intelligence technology to disrupt organized retail crime.
A summary of public-space safety enhancements such as security cameras recently activated in Town Square Park, which feed directly into APD’s Real-Time Crime Center. These cameras aim to deter theft, vandalism, and address safety concerns — particularly during events and in high-traffic areas.
A link to a public dashboard tracking enforcement of Anchorage’s illegal camping and fire-safety ordinances — showing complaints, enforcement actions, response locations, and time-series data to increase transparency and accountability.
“The page reflects our commitment to an open dialogue, data-driven policing, and community trust,” said Chief Sean Case. “We want Anchorage to see not only the facts about crime — but also how APD is working every day to protect our neighborhoods, support businesses, and help to keep public spaces safe.”
