ARREST BY K9: 3500 C ST.

On February 25, 2026, at approximately 11:33 PM, officers from APD mid-shift patrol and K9 Unit responded to a robbery in progress at the Circle K at 3500 C St.

Witnesses reported that the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Daquan Ziegler, had concealed merchandise in his pockets and backpack while inside the store. When confronted by an employee near the front entrance and asked to return the concealed items, Ziegler, who was armed with a fixed-blade knife, shoved the employee, resulting in a physical altercation. Both the employee and Ziegler sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Ziegler fled the store on foot and was located a short distance away near 36th Ave. and Eureka St. During contact with officers, Ziegler ran from police, disregarding verbal commands to stop and K9 warnings. K9 Rylin was deployed and subsequently apprehended Ziegler. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Ziegler was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries related to the K9 apprehension. After being medically cleared, he was transported to Anchorage Correctional Complex and remanded on charges of Robbery in the First Degree, Theft in the Fourth Degree, Violating Conditions of Release, and Resisting Arrest

No officers or K9 Rylin were injured during the incident.
