CHRISTOPHER ESCOBAR ARRESTED BY K9 SIG FOR FELONY WARRANTS

At approximately 3:25 PM on May 8, 2025, members of the APD Investigative Support Unit (ISU) and APD K9 Unit were near the 8800 block of Jewel Lake Road attempting to contact 28-year-old Christopher Escobar who had three outstanding felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant. The first warrant was for Larceny for original charges of theft 2. The second warrant was for a Probation Violation for original charges of misconduct involving a weapon 2.  The third warrant was for a Probation Violation for original charges of vehicle theft 1, escape 4, and reckless driving. The fourth warrant was for a Failure to Appear for original charges of operating under the influence, resist arrest, and leaving the scene of a crash.

Officers located Escobar inside a vehicle refusing to exit. K9 Sig was released and apprehended Escobar from within the vehicle. Officers were then able to take Escobar into custody without further incident; Escobar was transported to the hospital for treatment for the dog bite before being remanded to Anchorage Correctional Complex for his warrants as well as Resisting Arrest.

None of the officers involved nor K9 Sig were injured during the incident.
