Corey Gore Apprehended by K9 Kevin in Disturbance Investigation

At 11:13 PM on February 5, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to Carrs Midtown located at 2920 Seward Highway regarding an adult male threatening passersby with baseball bats.  Upon arrival officers located 38-year-old Corey D. Gore at the intersection of the New Seward Highway and Benson Boulevard; he was holding both bats.  The first officer at the scene gave Gore multiple commands.  Gore was initially compliant but then ran westbound onto Benson into oncoming traffic. Gore ignored continued commands from officers which included a K9 warning.  As Gore was running through a parking lot, K9 Kevin was deployed.  K9 Kevin contacted Gore on the arm and brought Gore to the ground which allowed officers to place the handcuffs.

Gore was transported to a hospital for treatment of the bite.  Afterwards he was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on two existing warrants (one felony and one misdemeanor).  He was additionally charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting, Criminal Mischief, and three counts of Violate Conditions of Release.

Through conversations with several witnesses, officers learned that Gore had tried hitting pedestrians with his bats and that he struck at least one vehicle with a bat which caused damage.

Neither K9 Kevin, officers, or any citizens were harmed during the incident.
