Dominick Lozano taken into custody by K9 Midas for felony warrants

At 5PM on January 18, 2022, Anchorage Police received information that 35-year-old Dominick G. Lozano was in a residence on the 600-block of Lori Court.  Lozano was wanted on two outstanding felony warrants.  The first warrant was for Domestic Violence Assault and the second was for Eluding.  After confirming Lozano’s whereabouts, officers obtained a search warrant for the home and then responded to that location.

Swing-shift patrol officers, and officers assigned to ISU (Investigative Support Unit), formed a perimeter around the home and then attempted contact at the front door.  A male answered the door; officers explained why they were there.  The male stated he would have Lozano come to the door.

Shortly thereafter, Lozano exited through the rear of the home.  After Lozano had walked a few feet away from the back door, officers identified themselves and told Lozano to stop; Lozano began to run.  Police gave several commands, to include less lethal warnings, which went ignored.  Officers deployed both a less-lethal ARWIN round, followed by an OC round (Oleoresin Capsicum or “pepper spray”), neither of which stopped Lozano from running.  K9 Midas was deployed; Midas made contact with Lozano’s leg.  Lozano was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.

Lozano was transported to the hospital for treatment of the dog bite and less lethal deployments.  After being medically cleared, he was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his two warrants.  He was additionally charged with Resisting.

None of the officers, to include K9 Midas, were injured.
