February 1, 2023 Message From The Chief

The Anchorage Police Department proudly celebrates and recognizes Black History Month. Black History Month is a time to celebrate the impact of Black culture in the past and present, as well as reminding us of hope and opportunity for the future. We honor all those who worked tirelessly to blaze the trails of equality for future generations to follow, and APD recognizes all those who continue this important work today. We are grateful to live in and work in such a diverse community, and we continue our commitment to build strong relationships with our community members to increase trust between our officers and the people they serve. Black History Month serves as both a celebration and a reminder of the importance of recognizing the contributions made by Black communities throughout history, not just this month, but all 365 days of the year.

Very Respectfully,

Chief Michael Kerle
