Homicide Investigation on the 18700-block of Whirlaway Road in Eagle River

Update on 9/11/23:

This crime is domestic violence related; therefore, the victim’s name will not be released.  Next-of-kin notification has been made.

No charges have been filed.  The investigation is ongoing.

Original on 9/10/23:

At 7:07 PM on September 10, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to a residence on the 18700-block of Whirlaway Road in Eagle River regarding a shooting.  AFD Medics arrived and began performing life-saving procedures on the victim.  Ultimately the adult male died at the scene.

Officers believe they have contacted everyone involved.  While the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, it appears the parties are all known to one another and this is an isolated incident.

The Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the home.  There are no road closures.
