Matthew Geitz Arrested for terroristic threats

At 3:18 PM on October 12, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to Mears Middle School for multiple reports of a male adult making bomb threats.

When the responding officers arrived at the school the suspect had left the area and officers later located him down the road from the school. The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Matthew Geitz.

Geitz was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of a terroristic threat.

Officers found no evidence of a bomb at the school and believe the threat to be false. APD investigates all threats thoroughly and works alongside the Anchorage School District to quickly resolve these disruptions to the school.
