REDDI REPORT LEADS TO ARREST
At 8:57 PM on May 14, 2026, a citizen called in a REDDI report to APD Dispatch about a reckless pickup truck that was traveling northbound on the Glenn Highway.
A Sergeant with the APD Traffic Unit, who was working on a grant funded pedestrian safety overtime detail, initially responded to the call. He located the vehicle near Thunderbird Falls and observed that the truck was swerving and speeding.
Upon contact with the driver, 32-year old Anchorage resident Canyon Sandberg, there were signs of impairment and an open container of an alcoholic beverage inside of the vehicle. Responding officers performed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) and the decision was made to arrest Canyon Sandberg for Operating Under the Influence (OUI). He was transported and remanded on the charge of OUI after a breath sample result that was well over the legal limit. In addition to the OUI charge, Sandberg was cited for driving without a license and for an open container.
