SEEKING WITNESSES: RECKLESS DRIVING GLENN HWY
This week, the Anchorage Police Department participated in a high-visibility speed enforcement detail in collaboration with the Alaska Highway Safety Office, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and other agencies in the NHTSA Region 10.
At approximately 9:25 AM on July 25, 2025, the APD Traffic Sergeant was working on this enforcement detail when he observed a white Ford Focus speeding inbound on the Glenn Hwy., near N. Eagle River Rd. The white Ford Focus was flashing its headlights at other vehicles and passed on the shoulder of the road, nearly causing a collision. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Simpson. Simpson was arrested for Reckless Driving and remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex without bail. He also received citations for speeding and failing to carry vehicle registration.
The Ford Focus was impounded. Any witnesses who observed this incident or the previous behavior of the white Ford Focus, or who have in-car video footage, are asked to contact APD Sergeant David Noll at David.noll@anchorageak.gov.
