Shooting Investigation on the 4900-block of E 43rd Avenue

At 9 PM on January 7, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to a residence on the 4900-block of E 43rd Avenue regarding a shooting.  Initial indications are that an adult male and his juvenile child were inside their apartment when another adult male entered.  Some type of interaction between the two men occurred; both men fired shots.  The father was hit at least once in the upper body and the juvenile was struck at least once in the lower body.  Both were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The adult male suspect fled prior to police arrival.  An extensive search was conducted, to include use of the drone and K9, but he was not located.  There is no additional suspect information available for public release.  While the motive for the shooting is under investigation, this is believed to be an isolated event and not random.
