TRAFFIC FATALITY​: BENSON BLVD & C ST

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT:  June 2, 2025 at 11:28 AM

ROAD CLOSURES: ​EB Lanes at the intersection of Benson Blvd and C Street are closed.

UPDATE: The adult female has been identified as 79-year-old Gladys Graf. NOK notifications have been completed.

At approximately 11:28 a.m., APD Dispatch responded to the intersection of Benson Boulevard and C Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The adult female was transported by AFD to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver involved remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. This is an ongoing investigation.

The adult female was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

UPDATE ON 10/14/2025: Traffic investigators determined that the driver involved, 39-year-old Mohamed Hajir, was operating a screen device at the time of the collision. On October 9, 2025, an Anchorage grand jury indicted Hajir on charges of Criminally Negligent Homicide and Use of Electronic Devices While Driving Causing Death. A warrant was issued for his arrest, which was served on October 12, 2025 by members of the Major Collision Investigation Unit. Hajir was subsequently remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on the charges.
