TRAFFIC FATALITY: EAST 3RD AVENUE AND ORCA STREET

On September 17, 2026, at 8:13 a.m., APD responded to the intersection of East 3rd Avenue and Orca Street for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. An adult female pedestrian was declared deceased on scene by medics from the Anchorage Fire Department.

 The driver of the vehicle which struck the pedestrian, Anchorage resident Vaiee Samuelu, did not remain on scene but was contacted a short time later.  She has been remanded at the Anchorage Jail for the offenses of Failing to Render Aid and Leaving the Scene of a Crash.

The identity of the pedestrian will be released when next of kin notification procedures are complete. This is an ongoing investigation.
