TRAFFIC FATALITY: Fireweed Ln and D St

ROAD CLOSURES: ​ Westbound Fireweed Ln is closed at D St ​while investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) process the scene. Please use alternative routes.

UPDATE NARRATIVE OCTOBER 31, 2025: At 9:35 PM on October 30, 2025, officers along with medics from the Anchorage Fire Department responded to the area of Fireweed Ln and D St  in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.     

 The preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing the road west of Eide St outside the crosswalk when a SUV traveling East struck the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle left the scene.

 Life saving measures were attempted but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

 The victim’s identity will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

 The driver of the SUV was discovered a short time later and identified as 61-year-old John Ivory. Ivory was remanded to Anchorage Jail for DUI.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Lorraine Williams. Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed
