Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Fatality: W 5th Ave. and E St.

On March 31, 2026, at 3:28 AM, APD officers responded to the area of W 5th Ave. and E. St. for reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Initial indications are that a Nissan Pathfinder travelling westbound on 5th Ave. struck an adult male in the roadway near E St. The man was transported to a local hospital by AFD Medics where he later succumbed to his injuries and died.

The driver remained on scene and has been cooperative with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.

Traffic on W 5th Ave. near E St. was closed while APD’s Major Collision Investigation (MCIU) investigated; all lanes are now open.
