Victim Identified in Sunday's Vehicle vs Pedestrian Fatality; Seward Hwy mile 101

On 05/30/22 at 2:30 AM Mid Shift Patrol Officers responded to the area of the Seward Highway mile 101 in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

The preliminary investigation found that a Silver Dodge Ram pickup was traveling northbound on the Seward Highway when an adult female pedestrian was struck by the vehicle. APD Officers and Medics with the Girdwood Fire Department responded, and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity will be released pending next-of-kin notifications. The driver remained on scene and has been cooperative with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. No occupants of the vehicle were injured.

The northbound lanes of the Seward Highway will be closed at mile 101 while investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit process the scene. Traffic will alternate in both directions using the southbound lane. Please use caution when traveling and avoid the area if possible
