ALEXANDER KHEM ARRESTED BY K9
At approximately 2:19 AM, on June 28, 2025, APD Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire near the 8100 block of E 16th Avenue. Officers from mid-shift patrol, along with APD K9, were dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle believed to be involved and attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to comply and instead backed into the driveway of a nearby residence. He exited the vehicle holding a bottle of alcohol, ignored repeated commands from officers, and entered the residence, barricading himself inside.
In plain view, officers observed multiple shell casings in the driveway and an assault-style rifle located between the passenger seat and center console of the suspect's vehicle. Officers established a perimeter and began negotiations, advising the man that he was under arrest. Despite numerous commands and clear warnings regarding less-lethal options and K9 deployment, he refused to exit.
A search warrant was granted to allow officers to enter the home and take the suspect into custody. Before entry, the man briefly opened the door but again refused to surrender. K9 Ray was deployed but the door was slammed shut, causing minor injuries to the K9’s face.
Negotiations continued without success. Officers ultimately made entry into the residence. K9 Ray was deployed a second time and successfully apprehended the suspect by making contact with his left thigh. Officers moved in and took him into custody without further incident.
The suspect, a 31-year-old male, was transported to Alaska Regional Hospital for treatment of the dog bite. Once medically cleared, he was transported to the Anchorage Jail and remanded on the following charges:
Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (MIW 3)
Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the 4th Degree (MIW 4)
Resisting Arrest
Harm Police Dog in the 2nd Degree
Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer
Felony Operating Under the Influence (OUI)

The suspect has been identified as Alexander Kehm.
None of the officers involved were injured during this incident.
