BRUCE KING ARRESTED BY K9 KEVIN FOR VEHICLE THEFT
On March 3, 2026, at approximately 2:39 AM, APD officers assigned to the mid-shift patrol, along with an APD K9 unit, located an occupied stolen vehicle parked at the Puffin Inn at 4400 Spenard Rd.
Officers positioned their patrol vehicles to prevent the stolen vehicle from leaving the area. The driver, later identified as 46-year-old Bruce King, was unresponsive in the driver’s seat prior to contact. Upon waking, King failed to comply with officers’ verbal commands.
As officers began detaining the passenger, King climbed over the center console, exited through the front passenger door, and fled on foot. King ignored repeated K9 warnings and commands to stop. K9 Kevin was subsequently deployed and apprehended King by his arm while officers took King into custody without further incident.
King was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries related to the dog bite. After receiving medical clearance, he was transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex and remanded on charges of Vehicle Theft I, Theft II, and Resisting Arrest.
None of the officers nor K9 Kevin were injured in the incident.
