Bryce Beltz Facing Several Charges Resulting from a Warrant Service

At 6:02 AM on February 14, 2024, Anchorage Police received information regarding the location of 29-year-old Bryce E. Beltz who was wanted on three warrants: one federal, one state, and one municipal.  The description of the vehicle Beltz was driving was provided to APD.  Concern was also relayed to APD that Beltz may be armed.

Beltz was found in the drive thru of a fast-food restaurant located at the corner of Arctic Boulevard and Northern Lights Boulevard.  Beltz was in a Chevy Tahoe which was the first vehicle in line.  Two officers blocked in the front of the Tahoe with their patrol vehicles.  Another customer was in line directly behind Beltz in a black Dodge Ram. Beltz put his Chevy in reverse, accelerated hard, and hit the Dodge behind him which pushed the Dodge several feet backwards.  That space allowed Beltz to drive out of the block.  

While Beltz was forcing his way out of the drive thru, a patrol sergeant had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

Officers pursued Beltz who refused to pull over.  Beltz fled on foot when the Tahoe become lodged in a snowbank at Blueberry Street and W 21st Avenue.  Officers gave chase and quickly caught Beltz who got stuck in waist-deep snow.  Beltz initially refused to follow the officer’s commands.  He became compliant once a taser warning was given and was taken into custody without further incident. 

During their contact with Beltz, officers noticed signs of impairment. Officers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).  At the conclusion of those tests, the decision was made to charge Beltz with Driving under the Influence.  Once they were at the jail for further processing, Beltz provided a breath sample which showed his alcohol breath content was zero.  His blood was drawn once a search warrant was obtained.

As Bryce Beltz was being processed for remand at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, Correctional Officers found drugs inside a body cavity.  Beltz was ultimately jailed on his three warrants.  He was additionally charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Promote Contraband I, Reckless Endangerment, DUI, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, Fail to Stop, and Criminal Mischief IV.

The person inside the Dodge struck by Beltz in the drive thru was not injured.
