Charges Forwarded in Threats Investigation at Alpenglow Elementary School

At 11:12 AM on February 14, 2024, an APD officer assigned to the School Resource Unit (SRO) initiated a threats investigation.  Initial indications are that a student verbally made threats to cause harm at the school.  The threats were stated during lunch hour on February 13th.  A student who overheard the threats reported it to their parents yesterday evening, who in turn contacted school officials the morning of February 14th.  The school notified the SRO who responded to Alpenglow Elementary School located at 19201 Driftwood Bay Drive in Eagle River.

Through the course of the investigation, the SRO contacted the suspect student at school.  Ultimately charges were forwarded to the Division of Juvenile Justice.  No weapons were found on school grounds.

If you see something, say something.  APD is grateful to the student who came forward.  APD asks parents to please have a discussion with their kids about reporting anything that seems suspicious and/or dangerous to a trusted adult.  In this particular in case, it appears more than one student overheard the threats but only one came forward.
