DEATH INVESTIGATION: 9001 BASHER RD

At approximately 12:39 PM on December 19, 2025, Anchorage Police officers responded to the Basher Trailhead at 9001 Basher Drive after receiving a report of a deceased individual. Upon arrival, officers located and identified the deceased as 28-year-old Kaitlyn Kaganak. Next-of-kin notification procedures are complete.

 Kaganak was reported missing to the Anchorage Police Department on December 9, 2025. Since that time, APD detectives worked the case daily and conducted multiple searches with the assistance of K9 units and search and rescue teams.

 Investigators believe there may be individuals with information regarding Kaitlyn Kaganak’s disappearance and death who have not yet come forward.
