HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION: 3500 C ST.
ORIGINAL: At approximately 10:20 AM on October 15, 2025, Anchorage Police responded to 3500 C St. for reports of an individual being shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was declared deceased on scene by AFD medics.
A suspect has been detained.
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident, to include video surveillance footage of the area, is asked to contact Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or (907)786-8900 (option #0). The motive for the shooting and any relationship between the parties involved is under investigation.
The business and parking lot at 3500 C St. is closed while the Crime Scene Team processes the scene.

UPDATE AT 6:45 PM: The suspect was transported to APD Headquarters to be interviewed by detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, detectives charged 36-year-old Joshua Gibbs with Murder 2, Felon in Possession and Assault 3. Gibbs was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on his charges.
UPDATE ON 10/16/25: The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Charles Jackson, Jr. Next-of-kin notification procedures are complete.
Joshua Gibbs’ charges were updated to: one count of Murder 1, one count of Murder 2 and one count of Felon in Possession.

Joshua Gibbs Indicted for Murder at Anchorage Gas Station
Oct. 23, 2025 (Anchorage, AK) – On Oct. 21, an Anchorage grand jury returned an indictment charging Joshua Gibbs with one count each of Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Second Degree, Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Third Degree (Felon in Possession), and Assault in the Third Degree.
These charges stem from a shooting that occurred on the morning of Oct. 15, 2025. Gibbs is charged with shooting a former neighbor in the middle of a Circle K gas station with numerous patrons present.
These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Gibbs is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. His bail is set at $250,000 cash performance, $100,000 cash appearance, and a requirement to have a court-appointed third-party custodian. Gibbs faces up to 99 years for the charge of Murder, 5 years for the charge of Felon in Possession, and 5 years for the charge of Assault in the Third Degree. Gibbs is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on Oct. 24, 2025.
