HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION: 8th Ave and Cordova St

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: October 17, 2025, 8:21 PM

CURRENT STATUS: Initial Report

NARRATIVE: At 8:21 PM on October 17, 2025, officers responded to the intersection of 8th Ave and Cordova St in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a deceased adult male and deceased adult female with trauma to the upper body.

Both victim’s identity will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures are complete.

The Crime Scene Team has responded to process the scene.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, to include surveillance footage of the area, is asked to contact Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or (907)786-8900 (option #0).  Police are currently following up on leads and there is no suspect information to release at this time.  The motive, and any relationship between the parties involved, is under investigation.

UPDATE OCTOBER 19, 2025: 36-year-old Mario Jackson has been remanded to Anchorage Jail on 2 counts of Murder I and 2 counts of Murder II.

UPDATE OCTOBER 23, 2025: The investigation revealed that the suspect and the adult female victim were believed to be involved in a domestic relationship. In accordance with APD policy for domestic violence-related cases, the victim’s name will not be released publicly. The adult male victim has been identified as 33-year-old Bobby Deloach, Jr. Next-of-kin notification procedures are complete.

Mario Jackson Indicted For Double Homicide

Oct. 28, 2025 (Anchorage, AK) -- Today, an Anchorage grand jury returned an indictment charging Mario Jackson, 36, with two counts of Murder in the First Degree and four counts of Murder in the Second Degree. This indictment follows two deaths that occurred on the 200 block of 7th Avenue on the evening of Oct. 17, 2025.  Jackson is charged with shooting to death a male and female while they were in an apartment building’s alcove.

These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Jackson is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. His bail is set at $500,000 cash performance and $500,000 cash appearance for a total bail of $1 million dollars. Jackson faces up to 99 years each for the charges of Murder. Jackson is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on Oct. 30, 2025.
