LARGE POLICE PRESENCE: 1000 BLOCK W 29TH

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: August 22, 2025, 11:40 AM

UPDATE NARRATIVE: At approximately 11:40 AM on August 22, 2025, Anchorage Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of W 29th Pl regarding a stolen vehicle. The adult male subject involved barricaded himself inside the residence and proceeded to go to the roof of the building. Crisis negotiators were dispatched to the scene, but the subject remained non-compliant.

Non-lethal force was utilized, and officers arrested the adult male subject. The subject was brought to the hospital to be medically cleared as is policy when non-lethal force is deployed.

ORIGINAL NARRATIVE: there is a large police presence around the 1000 block of W 29th Pl Please follow officers’ instructions if you are in the area.  If you do not need to be in the vicinity, please avoid it and seek alternative routes until further notice. Depending on the situation, our response may require using a variety of tactics and tools, to include the drone.
