MICHAEL KOLEROK ARRESTED BY K9 AC FOR ASSAULT

At approximately 10:01 PM on June 22, 2025, Anchorage Police mid-shift patrol, swing-shift patrol and APD K9 officers were dispatched to the Lakeshore Hotel located at 3009 Lakeshore Dr. regarding a disturbance involving a weapon. It was reported that a male adult brandished a knife at two individuals, putting them in fear, before fleeing the area on foot.  Dispatch relayed to officers a description of the suspect, who was last seen heading towards Spenard Rd.

Officers located the suspect, later identified as 65-year-old Michael Kolerok, who was still armed with the knife used in the assault.  Kolerok became uncooperative and attempted to walk away from officers after being informed he was under arrest. Kolerok was given multiple commands to stop, to include K9 warnings, which went ignored.  K9 AC was released and subsequently apprehended Kolerok. Officers were able to take Kolerok into custody without further incident. Kolerok was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries caused by the dog bite before being remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex for Burglary 1, two counts of Assault 4, Assault 4, and Resisting Arrest.

None of the officers involved nor K9 AC were injured during the incident.
