TRAFFIC FATALITY: A St and E Benson Blvd

 APD CASE: 25-32227

 DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: October 18, 2025, 3:02 AM

 NARRATIVE: At 3:02 AM on October 18, 2025, officers along with medics from the Anchorage Fire Department responded to the intersection of A St and E Benson Blvd in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

 The preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was lying down in the road when a red Subaru struck them and left the scene.

 The pedestrian, an adult male, was transported to a hospital by medics where they died of their injuries.

 The victim’s identity will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

 The vehicle was located short time later and the driver, 49-year-old Shalah Reaves, was arrested and remanded to Anchorage Jail for DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Without Assisting the Injured.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 48-year-old David Galaktionoff.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
