TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION: BRAGAW ST AND MOUNTAIN VIEW DRIVE

UPDATE FEBRUARY 28, 2026: The suspect has been identified as 66-year-old Jeffrey Vancamp.

On February 26, 2026 a warrant has been obtained for Jeffrey Vancamp for Assault 1, Leave Accident Without Assisting Injured, Leave Scene of Accident (Involve Injury/Death) and Failing to Register as a Sex Offender.

Anchorage Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jeffrey Vancamp. UPDATE: Anchorage Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle involved in the hit and run on February 2, 2026. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a black or dark blue 2011-2013 Toyota Corolla with damage to the front bumper and hood. Anyone with information regarding this traffic collision is asked to contact Traffic Investigator Fortunato by email at mark.fortunato@anchorageak.gov. ORIGINAL FEBRUARY 2, 2026: At approximately 6:17 PM on February 2, 2026, Anchorage Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Bragaw Street and Mountain View Drive for reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

Initial indications are that an adult female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing Mountain View Drive.  After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene.

The Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) responded to process the scene. The investigation is ongoing; no charges have been filed.
